Does antifoul work ????

There was a comparison test for antifouling in the March 2006 edition of Yachting Monthly, and the Seajet 033 Shogun and Teamac came out on top. I used the Seajet as the boat yard were selling it at £45 per tin and not the £73 as priced in YM. You wiil certainly have your work cut out getting that off, and I hope you find a solution to it.
 
Did you mix the paint thoroughly?

The copper sinks to the bottom, if you only used the the top part it can almost be totally copper free.

Or was the paint old? if left as a sediment, the copper binds together and forms a solid 'cake' at the bottom of the tin, that can be so hard you can easily think its the bottom of the tin!

Only other thing could be a bad batch of paint?!

...Cos one things for sure, there sure as hell aint no copper in that paint.

[/ QUOTE ] I bet that's the problem! Boatbuilders are rarely generous when it comes to applying antifouling. Trilux needs 2 or 3 good coats to give a season's protection. Also, Trilux needs to go into the water within 2-3 months of application, otherwise it has to be pressure-washed or wet sanded before immersion. If it was a stock boat, might it have been sitting around antifouled for too long?

Parkers don't stock pile boats.....they build to order....current boats are around 4 months wait.....

This one was launched straight away..and has been afloat for 1 year..

They may well not have been generous with the antifoul....but who knows ???
