Can anyone give me pros and cons of both?

had a dolphin on a 235hp johson, also on alpha 1 leg and now a 9.9hp mercury outboard.
helps with cavation but have'nt realy felt much difference on any of the above with acceleration or topend..never had the stingray though!
 
I Have used a stingray on a 260 hp omc outdrive,it definately increased lift,but i suspect there might be leg trimming issues ( a small amount of trim/and a large amount of reaction) it also made my boat look bow heavy at 6knots +. I hope this helps.

It possibly will depend on what weight/size/horsepower you intend to install the product on.
They say the one piece units are more effective.

The Stingrays' 'whale tail', aft of the cav plate, helps trim the bow down on heavy outfits, which I find a significant advantage when loaded up heavy or running with moderate H.P.

The other brand is SE Sport 300 which apparently has more curve and surface area, haven't tried it yet, but will if the old Stingray gives up, or someone stands on the outer edge.

There are of course boat combinations that do not suit these bolt-on enhancements, particuarly in a following sea, promoting 'bow steer'.
In this case, trial and error may be the only course of action.

Never used one of these myself but have heard they can put strain on certain parts of engine fixings. These things have been out for years, but I see engine manufacturers have never evolved to incorporate on their outboards, so I do wonder how effective they can be.

I guess an engine man. would not know what his engine was going to be fitted onto/into.
Traditionally the boat man. would fit moderate horsepower into a rig to keep it cost effective, and this is where the fins can assist, particuarly with sterndrives (21' - 26').
They are just a cheap alternative ($AU100.00) but trim tabs will be better, but about eight times as costly, plus fitting.
There are too many different set-ups to say they will work for everything or everybody, but I find them brilliant.
My boat is 20 years old and has had one (Stingray) fitted all of its life, still with the original sterndrive in perfect order.
