Documentation required for Holland

Hi just checking the rya site which says we must carry a Binnevaraart Poliitie Reglement (BPR) for travel to Holland.

I can download it in Dutch and print it 110 pages or translate using Google but then I can't print it out.

Would it be ok to have it stored electronically? I'd rather not have to print 110 pages if not absolutely necessary.

As ylop says, and if you use the Waterkaart Live | App met Nederlandse waterkaarten app, highly recommended, the BPR is available for download to your device from within the app so you are compliant. you do not need a paper copy.

if you are going into the Issjlmeer you will also want this Waterplanten.nu - they have big problems with rafts of prop clogging weed, and this gives live updates on where to avoid. Its a fantastic area to explore - I think underappreciated by UK charter customers who flock to the med and complain its too hot!

The south of the country is nice, and for some years was all we could reach in a 2-3wk cruise in small boats, but for me now the further north you go the more interesting it gets. The weather can be chancy of course, while the hottest period I have experienced was a six-week heatwave in the southern Baltic.

I think it's worse in the Markermeer. 3 years ago we picked up about 50 kgs on our property and rudder coming from Edam to Hoorn.Despite backing up several times to clear it. Would post a picture of I knew how. I did hear that several boats had to call the lifeboat for assistance.

I do have the electonic version but always buy a paper copy of 1 & 2 when I visit, although I've never been asked to show it. It seems a small contribution to make for all the free lock and bridge openings.
It also helps a little with my attempts to learn the language.

Your best bet is probably to follow the buoyed route used by barges that chew up the weed. On the other hand, this can sometimes feel like living dangerously and a good lookout is necessary.
