and fitted to my engine bay is good for the price, does what I wanted it to do. It is from Hong Kong supplier and had no issues with delivery etc. When you order send a note to say which version you want i.e. front or rear view camera, if you don't they will send rear as the default option. The front view doesn't have any parking lines.

The reverse image is a nuisance but not enough to bother changing, however adding a port side camera would be nice and allow short handed operation in tight berths.
On your system do you have a dedicated screen?

When we were at the boat show this year we asked Raymarine the same question - the guy was very helpful and said they are two different part numbers ; one has a "reversed" image and the other a standard image. Apparently there was no way of altering them, you just have to buy the right one.

Indeed. I have the catalog price list here and they list separate part numbers for front and reverse cams.

I hadn't considered lag. Is it significant? Are we talking fractions of a second or more?

M, i don't know if this is still acute, but I would defo go for an analogue camera. I have an IP reversing camera on my boat and while the lag is bearable (0,5 - 1 sec, mostly) more annoying is that quite often the image lags for a second or three, which makes the whole thing just about useless. I think part of the problem is that when engaging forward to stop the boat while backing into the pontoon, the swrils/foam/etc. or ripples on the water in general, rapidly increase the amount of data transmitted and the connection chokes. I don't know.

In any case, the ip connection just doen't seem to work fluently and reliably enough.

Edit: the above is of course only relevant while discussing reversing cameras.

Mine is connected to a smartphone by wifi, the app is from googleplay. The wifi unit plugs directly into the camera connected to 12volts. This is the model http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Wifi-...512804e&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=111908841921 BUT I can't remember the supplier on ebay I used.

And eventually connected up to Raymarine unit with separate on/off power switch. Very pleased with £14 camera result although was a long cable feed from garage door, through garage and engine room and aft cabin.

Chris Ellery from Greenham Regis, Poole kindly made me up the lead (see pic) to link to Raymarine E series and appears to be great cheap solution. Only issue is that the image is reversed (ie flipped horizontally). Now I am used to reversing camera in car but pretty sure this isn't how it should be, image wise, though haven't installed in boat yet as need to get some extra yellow RCA cable. Have I missed something or is there a way of flipping the image ? I think the "monitor reverse signal trigger cable" from instructions is meant to attach to car reversing lamp to power unit up rather than reverse the image.
