I was getting this in our marina, ended up mounting some good sized HD fenders horizontally on the dock, roped into SS D rings mounted on top of dock. this means the boat is always distanced from the dock regardless of swell or other fenders, still use a selection of normal vertical fenders hanging from boat but the dock mounted ones are so far failsafe.
