Do you use loadsa AA ( or AAA) cells ?

I used to use Lidl's Aerocells, which were good quality, but have switched to boxes of 10 Procell from Amazon, price varies but usually very good value - certainly far better value than anything in a supermarket.

When Which? tested batteries recently, Aerocells came out so extraordinarily close to Duracells in perfromance measures that I think it reasonable to assume that they are the same thing.

because you have to charge them up at home and take them to the boat, or charge them on the boat.
I use them in FM radio, GPS, VHF, Torches et al.
Inevitably when you want them rechargeables are flat, so I keep a box of 40 alkaline onboard (from CPC.) and I know I'll always have good ones. Its amazing how many I supply to other boats.

Thought Duracell now had such a poor reputation that they were best avoided
Don't know - I use the Procell (Duracell) from toolstation and they are fine - good enough life and so far I have not had one leak if inadvertently left in a torch or other battery powered gismo

Not such a problem. A green box for charged ones, a red box for ones waiting to be charged. Stick them on charge whenever you get the chance. Used to do it all the time. My main problem is that the rechargeables are a lower voltage which is a problem for some devices. However, given that you can get 100 good one-time batteries from Maplin for 15 quid, it seems scarcely worth the hassle.
