Do you recall a few months ago I reported one of my Engel fridges.....

'Tosh

they are designed to be fitted on boats! '

So are VP engines but the salt water still gets in to them and wrecks them.
Recent post on here about ram seals breaking down. Things do stop working, get a life.

Nuff said I think /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I think I'll leave it now.

My fridge could well be 29 yrs old
its turned on/off each w/e
it has been bounced about a bit over the years /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
its been on the Long Sand Hd & Mersea Island bounced a bit again /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Still keeps the Bier Cold /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Are you sure its the actual fridge thats not working, could be any number of wiring or installation problems. Don't wish to sound like I'm taking the piss as well, but boats do go wrong all the time, cracks in gelcoat appear, radar archs flex.

Likewise, I have Waeco portable fridge/freezer that sits most of its time on the boat, or is being carried in the back of my car halfway across France, in and out of hotel rooms and it still works after five years.

Under consumer law, you can claim that you expect a quality product like an Engel's to last at least six years under normal use.

Like the radar arch which has shifted......being "normal maintenance"
how many radar arch's does ANYONE know that have shifted

I believe you!

A friend bought an S34 brand new, and the radar arch used to flex in just vaguely bumpy seas. The gel used to craze up nicely. It was always going back to be fixed.

Chris
Thanks for not...

the first fridge that went is getting power to it but the refrigeration or summit is knackered...

second one....
havent had a chance to put a tester anywhere yet...

Cracks in fittings of gel after one year?
all related to a canopy that never fitted....was probably puting too much stress on the fittings.

GBP 95K on Burton waters....

as they stopped building them .....

no offers /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That price is harsh - it hasn't even got a working fridge!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Only joking - don't throw a hissy. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

TBH, if both fridges had gone South after only 4 years, I think I'd be a tad pi$$ed as well. Not withstanding all the other problems you've had.

I'm back to cheer him up.

I do agree in part. my fridge, as per yours and still works very well. (only 20 yrs old so still a baby compared to yours). Some last along time, Some don't.

My point is goods are given 12 mths warranty. Not very good I agree, my VP engines came with 3 yrs. Not long after that vp reduced it to 12 mths. Do they not have faith in their products.

I understand after soooo many problems the bloke is upset. He needed to deal with them ages ago, not come on here ranting everytime the forum is slow or problem with the boat.

I can't see sending a letter to sealine md will do much. I hope it does for his sake.

If he thinks i'm winding him up I think I was too late for that. He was wound up before he came on here.

I'm just going to grab a cold beer out of my fridge /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You always seem to be complaining about your boat. It is the cheapeast available from UK builders so perhaps you need to put your hand in your pocket when things go wrong rather than to expect to be on a never ending meal ticket ie 4 hoods its a boat hoods leak! speak to engel about your fridge perhaps it collapse under the wieght of the 3 bottles
Dont think they would want to sell you another boat

ow many engine hrs. my guess not that many & not many of those in adverse conditions.
the original cost whether its top or bottom of a range is irrelevant.
the vessel should be fit for purpose & Sealine should have some Clout with its suppliers

the BRAND NEW BOAT was supplied with Engel fridges.

If i bought a new car would i have to go to Lucas to discuss a faulty alternator??????????

I am speaking via Burton Waters who sold me the brand new boat.

as i have said I will now write to Sealine's MD

Mmmm, if my kitchen fridge was bust then I'd go to the Kitchen shop or the fridge manufacturer. I wouldn't go to the bloke that fitted it!

Regarding your other comment aout your being 'one of the worst Sealines'. I wouldn't count on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pete

I think you're justified in your complaint, doesn't matter how much the boat cost, it should be fit for purpose, including all it's fittings. There are obviously acceptable levels of wear and tear, i.e. crazing etc. but fittings shouldn't pack in. Even if the boat is entry level, it aint cheap!

I wonder where you are looking to judge my boat is the cheapest available from UK manufacturers??????????????????
130K is not cheap and there are dozens of considerably cheaper boats available....
perhaps its people with that sort of attitude that allows this industry to turn out shite and get away with it....
I met someone who had and early SC29.....it had loads of problems ....he did the same thing...dealt with the problems himself.....spent 10K getting it put right.....
I think NOT!!!!!

I could have bought and perhaps should have bought a Birchwood with the same sort of spec for 10K less when i bought the boat......they went bust so dont know about there after sales support......

as for the canopy.....it has leaked since day one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you think thats acceptable ok....
I DONT!

this boat has been poor since it was delivered.....i did reject it but finally gave up because i do like the bloody thing....

there is a thing called warranty and fit for purpose

and as for sell me another boat......i went to Barcelona show a few years ago...
where i expressed an interest in the F34.....but not until this boat was sorted.....
guess what.....
headless chickens for a few months....
now back to usual couldnt give a shite

BTW
did anyone notice i said i have water ingress in the midships.....

that was originally becasuse the top and bottom halves werent ptroperly sealed!!!!!!!

Do you mean the top and bottom half of the BOAT itself wasn't sealed properly?? If that was the case i'd be returning the whole boat!
