Maybe the time has come for Marinas to provide fire hose reels on each pontoon so this type of spread can be stopped early.

I'm not sure that would be very effective against the sort of fire in the video in post 2. And amateur firefighters put themselves in danger too. Boats and pontoons can be replaced.

Nice little marina, my wife and I visited it a few years ago when we were staying in a hotel in Can Picafort.

With the fire well established, is it likely to be the GRP, or still assorted fuel/wood/furnishings etc.?

The black smoke suggests GRP.

I would still like to have a go, if only to make a fire break to stop it spreading to other (my) boats.

To be honest, I doubt that anyone was around, they look like day boats used in the season, local gossip says gas explosion ? mind that could be a pinch of salt.

An explosion on a boat in the Can Picafort marina has caused a fire, which has affected 12 adjacent boats and left three injured.
Teams from the Bombers de Mallorca, from the Alcúdia, Artà and Inca parks are still working in the area to douse the flames.
As explained by Bombers de Mallorca and the Civil Guard, the explosion took place at 10.14 am on a boat between five and six meters in length for reasons unknown so far.
The 061 has moved to the place of the fire, and upon arrival it was found with a 63-year-old man floating in the water . He is seriously ill and has been transferred to the Inca Hospital with facial injuries .
They have also treated two young men, 22 years old, 'in situ' for smoke poisoning .
