Sigma 362 - or at least my one - has a second gas locker, not piped for gas but with drains outside the boat. Keep the spare gas and little butane cylinder for hot-knife in there.
In the anchor locker in my case, covered by a thick plastic bag to stop it going rusty when doused in seawater. When at anchor I put it on a slat of wood in the cockpit by the drain holes, covered by an upturned bucket.
I'm beginning to understand why UK supplied Camping Gas refills are invariably rusty and dented if everyone (else) keeps them in their anchor lockers. So where do the French keep theirs - which are almost always pristine by comparison? And why is this OK for them but not apparently for us?
