Yes, red herring. In the sense that they are using something completely different to divert attention from what they are doing. It's a bit like saying that you are not going to stop dropping litter because you are horrified at the amount of litter which is being dropped by others..

Yes - And they do it on untaxed fuel - even the Mobos pay a little bit of tax.
Isn't it time we sorted our priorities ?

I agree with kds. My little bit of fuel burned (about 2 gallons a year) and the pollution created by the construction of my boat 30 odd years ago, doesn't cause me any guilt whatsoever, and however hard I try I can't make much of a saving whereas the airline industry and footloose globetrotters can.

Priorities. Maximum benefit for minimum effort.
