Last year I fitted new self tailing sheet winches to our Westerly Seahawk. I now wonder what value the old, non-self tailing, Barlow 25 winches have, if anything. Both are in good working order but the plastic flange top of one is broken (my fault - I dropped something heavy on it).

I have just put ads in the relevant YBW and WOA forums but, in the event of any enquiries, I'd very much appreciate your opinions on value, if any.

I bought a pair of 2 speed Lewmar 30s off a forumite for £100, I think it was. Both in excellent working order but one needed rechroming - which it got after two seasons.

I will take them off your hands!

Put them on ebay as a pair and they'll sell. particularly if you have a starting price of 0.99p. Make sure you put a P&P cost so anyone in the UK can bid not just for local collection.
Good Luck!

I rather doubt that it's worth travelling from Kenya to buy a pair of second hand winches.

I travel to UK regularly and return laden with gubbins. I have regular visitors who are always asked to bring stuff. Total weight allowance with KQ or KLM is very generous. So I would be seriously interested in a bargain pair of small winches.

Perhaps he lives in Kenya but had a once-in-a-lifetime holiday sailing on the Mersey and found it so wonderful he uses a cherished photo for his avatar.

;-)

I spent 10 years sailing out of the Mersey/Dee/North Wales area. And I like that photograph.
