After posting several emails to various brokers from adverts on the internet, you would think they have far too much money sitting there in the bank than possibly relieving me of a small suitcase full of the folding stuff,
Is trade that good out there... I doubt this.
Ok, its not a huge sum of cash as far as boats go, but its my cash, and like most have to work hard for it...
Even better is i have one reply from a broker, saying im out the office etc.... And then drops the price by a good chunk.... :D whilst still not replying back to my original mail :)
Oh well..... Home in two weeks from work, can then spend some serious time in my month off finding the right boat :)

I can turn up at a ferrari dealers in aberdeen, no id, no license and be down the road in something red 20 minutes later, for a test drive....

I suppose it doesnt help trying to do all this research and looking at stuff while locked up in a chamber.... But it passes the time... :p

I must be spoilt at work, what with three engines rooms, six generators and 20,000 tonnes to play with.... When they let me near the sticks :)
I shall have a look see if they have anything suitable :D

Aberdeen = ferrari's busiest dealership in the UK probably, so if you went in there in orange overalls and stinking of rubber they'd know you were working offshore !

I'm on R/V Geo Atlantic , before that on R/V Geo Pacific which was there all winter, not that we could get in very often it was fully of support vessels and no room at the quayside !

if you want my advice buy something in the sun and let the company fly you out and back !!

We normally go to peterhead. Barely just squeeze in to aberdeen..
Dsv seven atlantic.
So you cant blame us for keepin you out of the crown and anchor :)

I want something local to start with. My RIBs gettin uncomfortable, and beside that, id like to take my parents out for short trips etc. My mother is not well so got tomake the most of it.
Got my eye on a travado or a rapallo.
I prefer the interior of the larger boat, but love the classic lines of both exterior wise.
Just whats it like feeding 400 horse worth of detroits...

Email is the worst thing to happen to mankind in our whole history - pick up the phone and you'll get instant response if they are in.

Your email could:
  • Be marked as Spam and therefore never be seen
  • Be in amongst 1000 other emails
  • Be ignored because a phonecall came in just as it was read
  • Be ignored because a person walked in just as it was read
  • Be ignored because it's easy to put it off until later
  • Be ignored because people sending emails are often less serious than those phoning
  • Never reach the broker because they put the wrong address on the website
  • Never reach the broker because they forgot they had a website
  • Never reach the broker because they forgot they have to check email
  • Be ignored because despite your best intentions it came accross as rude

Because of these things, email makes people angry and is to be avoided at all costs.

Part of my job involves setting up large email servers btw so if anything my bias should be the other way!

Doint know whether lustyd is right about the reasons, but for whatever reason emails are far easier to ignore and forget than letters, phonecalls or visits.

If they ignore you're first email then send them another. If they ignore that I would go somewhere else.

If you are getting rubbish service before the have your money then you can make a fair assumption that is will only get worse once try do have your money.

Works both ways-my boat was up for sale with reputable local broker-imagine my suprise when I met someone down at the boat yard who had been interested previous year but no one at brokers told him boat was out of yard on a mooring in the harbour!
Interested party thought therefore boat was sold had then bought another "available"boat.

Are you using Hotmail?

They may have replied to you and it has been rejected.
They are rubbish. They decide that many businesses are spam. Trying to get off their spam list is simply not worth the bother.

I knew sat divers in the 80s, are you saying that whilst in the chamber you now have Internet connection? As most of them are now dead they'd be turning in their graves! I hope you make shed loads of cash, thoroughly deserved.
