Hi all, just after some advice on whether I should get my prop refurbished or replaced. Engine is a Mariner 75hp 2 stroke. Boat is a 17ft Dell Quay. I've no issues with current performance (top speed 30 knots) so just wandering whether there's any benefit?

Here's how it looks:

any advice much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rich

It's hard to tell for sure from the pic, but I can't see any structural damages on the prop. I would continue to use it as it is.
When eventually it will get much worse (when, not if), I don't think replacing it would be much more expensive than refurbishing.
And a new prop is obviously better than a refurbished one.
It's rather the skeg that looks in bad shape....

I fitted a Skeg-Guard to an outboard once. Polished SS so looked nice and presumably protected the leg better, but no difference in use.

Agree on the prop in general. New is better than refurb, but a correctly done refurb is better value (commonly ½ price) and offers an option to customize the pitch if desired. If yours perform well and allow the enginge to reach recommended rpm at WOT, there is no reason to replace.

that looks pretty smart! just found their website and looks certainly to be an option. Easy fit as well. At the moment there's doesn't appear to be any issues with the handling so I guess I'll leave it as is and keep and eye on both. cheers for your input.
