Yes they can warm the fluid with the brakes and motors apparently through heat exchangers as well as the other way around. The cells connect with essentially a fuse wire so if one fails it burns itself out of the battery and everything carries on. Very interesting stuff to read about, albeit a nightmare for fixing. Apparently easy to recycle though.I watched a video of a teardown of a Tesla 80kW battery. It was indeed 18650 single cells in banks. It had a liquid cooling system. Wonder if that's used for heating in cold weather?
