Do Bavaria exceed CE Cat A?

Proves nothing.

"The barge T-boned the Bavaria 38, took-out two piles and cleaned-up a fixed pontoon. Prognosis? Abrasions to the yacht, nothing more.
It's this peace of mind that sees most Bavarias land in the hands of private sailors."

Wishful thinking by marketing men IMHO.
Such statements alone, prove nothing!

If the barge had T-boned a table-tennis ball, would that similarly prove "panzer" build quality? No, because such a light delicate structure, would have been pushed away before impact.

If any AWB, had been T-boned whilst unable to be bounce out of the way, I would be astonished if it got away with "abrasions". Even a concrete pier would be more damaged, so unlikely this was a T-bone.

Actually I am considering Bavaria because of their value for money, hence the question. .

No axe to grind one way or the other but when considering value for money, dont forget depreciation. I believe that is relatively high on Bavs probably related to the unfair rep they have acquired.

Interesting that for someone with no axe to grind you made the same statement on the 27th of December. When I asked if you could justify it .... deafening silence.

Of course I have no axe to grind with people who have no axe to grind.

When looking at a late model Westerly this last summer, I was amazed by how much depreciation had occurred in 10 years - about 50% vs. his original price (admittedly with lots of extras and goodies). At least with Bavs and French boats, they represented a good value buy in the first place, and even if they had lost that percentage (which they haven't) it's a lot less in actual cash terms vs. the more expensive boats. The HR34 I mentioned in an earlier post was maybe £150K on the water when new (??), but will probably sell for under a £100K. Yes, a 1/3rd loss rather than 50%, but it's still £50,000. No 10 year old Bavaria 34 has lost that much. So it depends how you look at "depreciation".

What have I started!

Thank you for all your comments, I believe they helped me to consider Bavaria more seriously.
