DJI Mini 3 Pro

A question for BP: Is the 3 (at £859 with the fly more combo) really worth paying the extra over the 2 (£499 with fly more combo).

Sadly the 3 at £859 does not include the Fly more combo this time DJI decided to sell that separately at a further £159. In all honesty if you just want to do some casual flying and take some lovely video of your boat etc the Mini 2 is an incredible drone. Don’t even think about the mini 1 it is terrible in the wind.

Remember the mini 2 does not have and front and back sensors so can fly into things. If you have the cash the mini 3 is excellent but if you are on a budget the mini 2 is also an incredible drone

Here is a video taken from my mini 2 in Brixham last week. I only use 1080p as I think that is perfectly fine and don’t like the huge file size 4K creates. As I said the mini 2 is still an incredible drone and possibly best bang for your buck

Experimenting more with the DJI Mini 3 pro and took this little mastershot of our Sealine. All automatic so I had to do very little. Only 23 seconds

Interestingly in that one the drone would not 'select and hold' the boat as I think it was too white. I used the smaller but bright orange canoe and that worked well. It you look it does centre on the canoe and not the boat

On the bigger Mavic Air 2 and when I had a Mavic Pro, I didn't have much success from Active Track which I think is the kind of trouble you had with "locking onto" your boat.
I think it needs the "target" to be bigger in the screen when you select it.
When you have time, please will you do that little exercise again but starting closer up to the target and maybe report back.

I did indeed do that on the boat (ie go closer) and it acquired it then promptly lost it. Then I switched to the much smaller canoe and it was all good. Know they dont like water and I also think the complete white of the boat was an issue. If I remember I will try a High viz jacket or similar on the boat to see if that helps

I think the software "looks" for the target in a list of targets that it has - a boat is one of its internal targets.
So, putting a Hi Vis jacket on the boat, in theory, shouldn't make a difference.

Maybe you need to change your boat - only joking!!

Yes maybe a bigger one 48 footer perhaps :)
