displacement 50footer at 17 tons, with single screw

I looked long on hard at bruce roberts designs. Reasons I wont go into on here I didn't go for it. If you fancy one, I suggest you ask a professional builder of there opinion of them. It scared me off.
I do like some of his designs though.....

I priced an ali kit from bruce. (think it was a euro) iirc it was about 80k

I was wondering how long it would be before you read this thread!:D
My local boat builders won't use cutting files straight from the designer, they say the pieces never fit together properly.
The second boat built usually ok. (Files Adjusted by the yard, never gets back to the designer)
Me, I built my boat the old fashioned way.....cutting torch and a piece of chalk and some string.
My finest moment was when i cut a large sheet of steel the wrong side of the guide, 2" to small.:mad:

Imho, your boat is much nicer.

I have been slightly pre occupied over the last few weeks... work and boat and ill mother Im afraid.

Chaps I spoke to said unless you have prior boat building knowledge then kits as above are as you say... need work on....
Im sure two inch is bugger all to some mistakes made in proper 'big ship' yards :)

Brings us all down to earth with a bit of a bang.
Luckily for all us boaty people it's just a fun hobby; sometimes that can be a very welcome distraction from the heavy stuff that can land in our laps......
