Currently making one from ladder. A couple of question how important is to have a swivel fitting to allow side to side movement. Accepting the passerelle will have a "hinge" to allow up/down movement. If important anywhere I can get one, or make my own. Any other comments on passerelle making please add.

Thanks

The alternative to having a swivel fitting to allow side to side movement is the use of elasticated straps/ropes (combined with rope) so that the passarelle is kept off the quay/pontoon etc. The elastic needs to be sufficiently strong to hold it off the floor but not so strong that it will not be able to be grounded when some one steps on it
We had a set up like that, worked well, perhaps more achievable as we had a gantry so had points to attach the rope/elastic combination too

Alternatively you could go with all rope and raise and lower it when you want to use it

I made one from an aluminium ladder and ally treadplate. Bracket at inboard end with a bit of tube pivoted across, that dropped into a socket on the gunnel .

We had one out of a extended alu ladder for year with 8 mm ply over the runs , it mean you can extended if need be .
As jordanbasset said bungy at the end of the rope so it can be kept off the ground .
