So who does DIY Leather helm wheel kits. think there is a company in the states but google comes up with no answers. It's been mentioned on the forum before.

Anyone in the UK do the kits.

Or should i go to halfords and get a couple of fluffy pink ones to stitch togeather ?

TIA

Boat Leather...

Boat Leather do superb kits. Excellent leather, pre-punched, idiot-proof stitching instructions, needle & thread included. I went for the foam-padded cover and it feels great - chunky and warm.

gives a great result, pre-punched holes, needle & thread included, company run by enthusiastic sailors who race a very tidy BH 36 called Tanit.

Oooo very nice... I like. are the spats included in the kit ? your wheel does not have them. whats involved in doing it and how long did it take you.

spats: not included
speak to clyde leather and they will explain why
Took me a quiet saturday afternoon and about four cups of tea. Pace reduced to keep me away from the mother in law who was visiting at the time. I used two needles to get the cross effect (which is not how the supplier proposes it but I like it).

For a more economical (if slightly less posh) result I used cork handlebar tape from a bicycle shop.

Been in the water just over a month with no evidence of weathering.
