DIY Fridge question

I have just completed the rebuilt of my fridge in the boat old coolbox compartment using celotex and 2 layers of glass using Polyester resin, dyed with pigment


Question

would this keep the inevitable water accumulating in fridge compartment from osmozing thro the glass into the celotex and reducing its
insulation efficiency over time

or should I paint the resin with some sort waterproof paint ?

Am I being too fussy ?

when I ripped out the old G/F homemade fridge that I built over 10 years ago, using ordinary exspanding foam.
the foam was quite damp


whether this was caused by water ingress through the resin or by other means I cant say

I have a drain in mine.

I haven't got a drain in mine, but I clean it out periodically and sanitise it

A drain with a length of hose and a plastic bottle is best. Don't let it drain into the bilge, as come the time you spill some milk you will reap the consequences.

A drain with a U bend in it to stop the cold air draining out or at least a hole with a bung in it but as Vyv says drain it into a bottle.

Thanks for the replys Men..... and ladies

now need to devise a way of fitting a suitable pipe/flange/whatever
that will have to be sealed in properly to my almost flatish glassfibre work.


Will have a look at plastic through hull fittings

Hmm... Epoxy glue or sikaflex ?



dont want any water ingress in my nice new insulation do I, perish the thought
