I would think it would work OK for your double. The curve on mine was from about half way along one long side. At the head end of the bed it's a little wider than a single, but not as wide as a double, so i'm going to have a small infill made up from just foam. Seemed silly to buy a double and waste almost half of it. You might just need to consider if the metal edging would be needed to help keep its shape, mine seems fine without it but it would be simple enough to add something if you though it needed it.

Mine does sit within a lip ~ 2" high, so that would retain the shape. A project for next Winter I think.

Apropos retaining the metal edging.....

I'm sure the existing could be middle-cut, overlapped, and joined using e.g. epoxy-coated tape, or a cord whipping coated in CTI then fabric-wrapped/plastic sleeved.

Or even pop riveted or bolted through the overlap
