I presume by "Coolbox" OP means an insulated container into which an ice block or frozen water is put along with food etc. Depending on your needs this can be a very effective cold storage for several days. So much depends on how long you wish to stay away from replacement ice and also just how big your cool box is. If it is really big then you could add (drop in) another polystyrene cool box which will stretch out the period the ice remains frozen. Around here super markets will sell for chicken feed a carry bag with insulation. If you can't find similar you could make something. Put the ice in this along with anything you want to keep very cold. You could even use 2 bags one inside the other. This will also extend your ice life. If you make a bag the size of the inside of the box this could be very convenient for carrying food and ice from home. Perhaps surprisingly around here boaties use the ice in the box a lot a saves concern over battey power etc with a freezer. So clearly your existing cool box is not very well insulated. However I am assuming that it would be a major project to improve the existing insulation (air) so possibly not worth the work. Only you (OP) can decide if you need better insulation or are obsessive enough to do it. ol'will
