Divers moment.

In Alderney, on Monday, I watched an old Transit van. bearing an "A" Flag, drive slowly up the breakwater quay, while a guy walked along the top of the breakwater carrying the hose, which ran from the back of the van over the top. I very much doubt whether anyone on the Swinge side of the breakwater could've seen the "flag" or had any idea there was a diver down. Mind you I'd not be close enough inshore in the Swinge, to bother a diver. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

On my first trip into Braye, we arrived to find just one buoy left - the one without a pickup. Typical. So milling around, whilst the rope is brought back to the stern and a diver pops up and says "Do you mind turning your engines off!". No dive boat around, no flags anywhere. "Sure" says I "just pop this warp through the ring and we can turn off". Job done /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Next thing I heard on the VHF was the harbour taxi - "Bloody divers are diving in the harbour again"...

I sailed to Alderney back at Easter... quite a charming little island really. It was fairly quiet whilst we were there, but there are still a lot of visitor buoys for the size of the place.

The Swinge was interesting, well all around the Channel Islands and NW France, for the incredbile rate of the tides... I've never experienced anything like that before - you certainly have to keep your wits about you.

Well worth a visit IMO.
