Would anyone like to fit a new shaft anode for me in Almerimar marina, for a small consideration? Needs to be done urgently as the old one has fallen off so have no protection other than a hanging anode at present.

We recently left Almerimar. My boat and diving gear are in Colom. I will be back there in three weeks and will do the job if you can wait that long. If you can't try Pedro ay Ballyn Marine at the Marina.

Thanks, Mark, had replied to your PM earlier but wouldn't want to give the impression publicly that I had not replied.

The official diver came along today and sorted me out for a reasonable cash sum. Interestingly, he did not use an air tank, only a petrol compressor which was left under the control of an obviously clueless young lad in the inflatable. The compressor looked 20 years old and rusty, and the exhaust was no more than two feet from the air inlet. When I did my self-study in the 1970s the BSAC made a big play about air quality...but then again, this was presumably not highly pressurised to only go down a few metres.

I wonder if this is a technique that I could use instead of getting a bottle; a small electric dive compressor, regulator and demand valve? Just a thought. I'll have a chat with the diving school and diving shop people.
