Ditch the crew was nae use tae man or beast except the occasional dutchwoman .. so we chucked her overboard and a whale ate her.

Re: Ditch everything

I think it's a bit cheaty having loads of special equipment streching skywards to hitch a lift on moving air. You wouldn't hitch a tow from another boat, would you?

Oars , like engine, are another mechanical means of propulsion. And what's the hull for - a wimp's way out to stop getting wet! REAL mariners should therefore swim, and everyone using a boat is simply a lesser person, unthinking in their wanton wasting of valuable fuels to manufacture a pure plaything and lacking the necessary skill to swim where they want to go.

Oh, and also of course i am excellent at swimming. I have written a book about it called "All sailors are tosspots, except me."

What a Wimp - relying on the buoyancy of the water to support you - REAL men would learn to fly.

Re: hull-free proper sailing

I have a friend who uses this traditional method, usually solo. After a moment referring to the tide tables, he just leaps in and spends some considerable time in and about UK waters. He's called Bob.

Tide tables? You mean he can't instinctively assess the state of the water from the gravitational effect of the moon on his brain? What a Philistine!

What? can't you lot walk on water. You really need to improve your technique, practice, practice, practice (and a lot of prayer) and maybe one day you to can follow the rest of us "real men" and walk on water.
