There's always something interesting going on across the road at the boatyard. It's a job to get anything done around here!

I know what you mean...

I don't know if anyone else saw it, but there was a boat in the water at Shotley last weekend of around 45' LOA, waiting for her mast to be stepped (on aisle A/B), who was in the process of being restored.... I don't think i've ever seen varnish like it.... mirror like....and complemented by highly polished stainless fixtures and fittings.. stunningly pretty... I wish i'd had my camera with me.... her mast was equally beautiful.... a thing to be cherished....

Well, when I see the provocative crane appear in the velux window opposite my desk it's very hard not to pop out and see what's what

Another of Tim Gilmores completed projects? He is an excellent shipwright.

View from the window.

Saw a jay being mobbed by blue tits this morning. Jay ignored them and disappeared into a mass of ivy. Emerged with a baby bird in its beak, and proceeded to sit in the pear tree and eat it.

All that was missing was Bill Oddy and a camera crew.

You sure it wasn't a partridge?

If it's in London it was probably a spray-painted pigeon.

We've seen jays in our garden over the last couple of years, after some years' absence. I wonder if they are making a comeback?

Bird variations seem unusual this year...

We've got a lot of sparrows again after several years of virtually none, and also quite a few great and blue tits....more than usual

Mind you, the starlings that are nesting in one of our trees are amusing.... the cat is terrified of them.... she keeps going towards the tree and nest clearly thinking "breakfast", and then having to back off when the adult birds bombard her.....

We regularly have a spotted woodpecker on our nuts (if you know what I mean /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif), the other day though saw a green woody on the lawn.

Watching Tims Yard - perfect ! Lots of Tims completions in Chi Harbour. Out my window - trees, fishing lake. Not quite as good as Dolphin Quay but not bad !

Speaking of birds

Where is our cuckoo?

We normally have a cuckoo here around the first week in May - but nothing this year - not a toot.

Suppose its global warming - the damned things got lost and gone to Bear Island or somewhere.
