Thanks to @petem for alerting me to this device.
It’s a yacht devices J1708 engine gateway.
It plugs into the two pin diagnostic port on earlier KAD EDC engines.
It allows you to display engine data on the plotter.
The things I considered useful (rather than a duplication) are fuel flow and turbo boost. Neither of which I had gauges for.
It is not that straightforward to fit as the instructions score 97% on the nerdometer.
But it’s great when done. Particularly litres per nautical mile to best tune your boat. And the turbo boost readout alerted me to a fault (see other thread)
In particular, for programming you can’t use a memory card bigger than 32GB. The instructions don’t say this.
And you have to be familiar with storing files in the root of drives etc. Naming files in a logical manner. And using a text editor such as notepad. They assume all this knowledge.
Anyway they are recommended. Available from Amazon.
