Will a boat float higher in the water if in sea water than in fresh? any thoughts please

Lower in fresh - see ships plimsol lines. Specific Gravity of salty is higher - look at pictures of people floating in the very salty Dead Sea. Very marginal difference to the average yacht.

Yes. Sea water is higher density (1025) than fresh (1000) & any floating object displaces the same weight of liquid as the object itself. Weight = volume x density.
Therefore higher density = less volume under water & hence less draft.
If you have ever seen photos of people swimming in the Dead Sea, they seem to be half out of the water, as the Dead Sea is very much higher density even than seawater.

There was a method of calculating the displacement, therefore the total weight of ships, by comparing the waterline in fresh with that of salt. But dont know how its done

Suggest either fresh or salt water with a few cap fulls of Bilgex should solve your personal problems and improve the quality of your life?
