Dismantling shaft coupling. Hurth V-Drive

Can anyone give advice/instructions on dismantling this coupling? I need to remove the shaft, and it has to go forward through the V-drive into the saloon, as it cannot go backwards - skeg in the way.

Model: HBW 15 RV (circa 1971)

take out the 4 bolts nearest the prop, with a very thin tapered steel wedge spit the alloy housing, remove the 4 rubber drive /shock aborbers. remove engine and undo the shaft nuts, if required with a puller (On the shaft coupling). Thats how I did one last winter.
The biggest problem was lining up the engine when refitting as new mounts fitted and in a tighter space than shown in your picture. Hope this helps, Best of luck.

Many thanks for your reply. When you say 'the four bolts nearest the prop', do you mean the ones visible in the picture? Also, which exactly are the ' shaft nuts'? Do you mean the large nut on the end of the shaft? I was not proposing to remove the engine; as this is a V-Drive installation would that be necessary? Thanks.

remove large nut,then 4 nuts and casing, rubbers should come out next, hereafter its unknown territory for me but and educated guess would be that the gear box might have to be removed next especially if the exposed shaft is not the same diameter as the external bit as I think it designed to be withdrawn from the outside, hence the bit in the gear box MAY be a reduced diameter.
