Disgusting waste, The Hamble...........

You, just put a thought in My mind and maybe you,ve cracked the boat usage quandry.
Think people are scared to venture out of Our Marina case they get" Gazumped "! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That,s where there,s a difference .
In our gaff theres a two million quider than went out for three days as MajoreCastastrophe pointed out, however it is well fettled by The Family and a Skipper.
I can think of more than handfull of £50/£100 Granders that look decidedly sad. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The key thing is 'what do you call use'. Some people see them as floating caravans and it is common on Windermere and the Thames that they use them only to sleep on. Some people just like toys so spec them up then realise they are a hassle to use. They may not take them out but do sleep/entertain on them in the marina. Others have a change in circumstance (job, wedding, divorce, children, grandchildren) which is temporary and some suffer a loss in the family. Either way most boatss are well looked after by the marina or a specialised company. They just do not move a lot. I got my boat in June and have done 68 hrs yet have only slept on her 8 nights!

So each to there own,

Cheers

Time to go back into my origional berth, which I,m happy with.

[/ QUOTE ] Strewth! Do I have to put up with you as next door neighbour again?

Actually, we are lucky as we have a Dock Master who does give a damn.

You should get your berth back after the end of the season.

Well said Lawrence, totally agree!

Trust you got back safely and had a good holiday?
It was good to meet you both, we had a good evening that night didn't we? Martin was sick as a parrot though! lol. He was very quite the next day!

Best wishes

Barry

Hi B,

Ja, had a really good night and was nice to meet the whole gang. Stayed on for a couple of extra nights. Lumpy trip home though.

As for Martin... maybe it was the Gateau that got him in the end..... and I thought all "Northerners" were hard drinking men.. Pah!

Thinking of changing the boat???

Well lets just say I'm Looking!!

Yes we had some very lumpy trips in August and my old girl just will not push through it quickly enough! she's safe enough but it means a long time spent being tossed around like a cork in a bucket!
Got any ideas for a cheap loan!!! lol

As I'm retired I spend every Monday through Thursday on the boat and leave the weekends to the people with less time on their hands.

Most weekend boaters probably think my boat is abandoned!

Your right of course re windermere however for the record some of us use em, trouble is as you are aware it doesnt take long to get were your going at 20mph or so. Hence the comparitively low enine hours. Recently a group oe us have taken to staying out all night at anchor which has introduced a new dimension to our boating.

Anchor sharing.........

"at anchor "
Notice that you use the singular to describe the article holding all of you to the bottom.
Just out interest for us english boaters with one anchor each.
How many scottish boats can you tie to one anchor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
