Amen to that...I have walked away from a lovely looking wooden boat. It has cost me over a grand in lift outs, surveys and fuel back and forth to the other side of the country.
saved a fortune in the long run buy getting a good surveyor on it.
 
Can't believe the vitriol spouted here. Lets look at what we do know.

JE is a long established member of the forum.
She updated people regularly on progress, also updated her site with blog entries.
Since posting that she had a hospital appointment she has updated nothing on any site

Rather than her deliberately ignoring everyone is it not likely that she may have other priorities, e.g health problems to worry about.

Do we actually know anything? No, unless you have information as opposed to conjecture.
People attend hospitals every day of the week for all sorts of reasons and still manage to stagger to a computer.

Has she actually posted anything about a hospital appointment?
She was looking in for a while after she stopped posting but even that has now stopped.
I won't be surprised if the health problem is just a financial health problem but it's up to her to update people if she wants.

I do hope not. The omens aren't that bad

As far as I could remember, the only thing I was expecting to turn up at my parents’ address was a letter from the hospital with an appointment to see a specialist. Not very exciting and certainly not warranted of a ‘Look what came in the post!’ email.

For myself I'm all for letting it run; I don't think that the idea that an extensive thread might be( or not, as it happens) of some tangental value to a third party to be sufficient reason for the application of 'The Censor's' blue electron stripe in determining what I can read and , if I choose, contribute to.

I do deplore the oafish comments made by some - I suppose this does 'out' their real character/personality. Now if you were to propose a yellow card system to those who overstep the mark, well, that's an idea. But whose line and who applies the standards. A public outing of the authors of the unpleasent stuff is more my preference.

I agree with all this

except the bit about weetabix - floor sweepings from the granary if you ask me

what the heck does it matter if we have contributed to a long thread that might be of some tiny benefit to a girl with a boat

by golly there are some chippy blokes on here

it has not cost them a bent penny - so why resent anyone getting some intangible benefit

would they also object to IPC (a massive publishing mega-corp) benefitting from their posts

it is IPC who are the main beneficiaries -

(and nothing wrong with that because they pass some of it onto me in payment for my snaps and words)

i have enjoyed the thread - a good read in places - some blokes on here are incredibly nice, some blokes are extremely witty, some are neither of these things

so leave the thread alone - let it live a natural life, it has thrived and soared and will eventually die

Well if you consider a letter from the hospital saying she had an appointment as posting anything then yes. Lets hope it isn't anything serious.
 
Someone posted that he knew that Ellie and her boyfriend were holed up on her boat in Brighton. Can't remember who it was that said that.
 
Considering the s h one t weather perhaps they have more pressing problems than updating the blog and posting on here. I know my own feeble attempt at a blog is s h one t.
