Chinita has just suggested that the thread should be locked.

A second post by him suggested that continuing to post on the thread keeps the publicity alive for JE.

This is actually a point. Whilst the thread has become a bit circular and disparaging of her in the latter part, it is still showing constant use and that may be useful to her in her self-marketing. I doubt that anyone viewing the thread as a non-forumite will get past the first few pages.

My point in making this thread is to allow further discussion without adding to the original thread's hit-count. (not to carry on the endless suggestions that have been discounted already).

Have we been adding to the hit-score to her benefit? I notice the link to the thread is still on her blog.

If it had been me I would have taken that link down.

I abandoned reading the original thread somewhere around post number 800. It seemed to be going nowhere.

Haven't people better things to do?

Obviously not as the post rate has increased since it hit the 1,000 mark.

You are quite right it is was and will go nowhere . However despite the many disparaging remarks I think people would genuinely like to see the story end happily and some news or an update from JE would stop all the pointless speculation.

To be honest I find the disparagement a bit harsh, I'd like to hear the boat has been launched and her spat with PM resolved.
I don't see why we should be worried about whether we are giving her publicity or not, there are other people who benefit from publicity in the forum with no complaints.

They don't usually make a hit-generator out of their threads though. They usually ask a question and continue responding.

We were included in the original post and were asking questions, making suggestions and rendering encouragement. Now we are left chasing our tails without any response from the OP.
She set the fire going. Stoked it a bit, and has now left it to burn.

Leaving it as a very heavy-traffic link on her blog. Which it seems is good for business.

As I said in the thread it may be that she's been told to shut it. Maybe even legally compelled to do so.

I must confess it is an education in how social media and traffic 'work', and I unnerstand very little still!

Question: How does the thread count rise if there are only a couple of hundred PBO forum viewers ?

I have tried- for example- repeatedly revisiting a thread when everyone is meant to be askeep over a few minutes and that does not seem to raise a threads visit count by one single unit.

So where do all These Big Numbers come from?
