Bet it was Lloyds TSB, they go from bad to worse. They've lost several overseas transfers COMPLETELY in the last year and if i didn't make them stamp the carbon they'd have somehow made out it was my fault...it's what they do.

But is anyone else better?

wizzy electronics

Under the old system banks cleared cheques in 4 days, with wizzy electronics it now takes up to 10 days. Work that out if you can.

Know how you feel. When we bought our new Bavaria, we explained to the salesman that it was VERY important that he give us an accurate delivery date, as we lived in Jersey, my husband had to book his leave at least 6 months ahead to get time off for collection trip and that we didn't mind in the least how long we had to wait, just as long as the date was accurate. Oh no problem we were told, so leave was booked, crew was organised and the boat arrived exactly on time but he had told us that they would only need a week to commission her and that is when we had booked the leave. We checked again with them when she arrived and they said, no problem, so we confirmed airline tickets. Of course there was no way the boat could be commissioned on one week, it took about two and a bit. We were due to pick her up in May and we had no other leave until August. Fortunately someone else didn't want leave they had already booked and we managed to get her in June, but for that we would have had to wait three months.

Any proper bank can do a transfer. In minutes or maybe 2 hour max. I've done it loads of times with just a phone call. " Please send £1000000000000 To Fred Blogs". If I'm speaking to some one who doesn't know me, they just say ok just send a fax to confirm. Boat, cars, and house that way. No Problem. Just give them a kick and tell them to get it done tomorrow. Or sack them as total incompitant.

Have you sent off Your Stamped. SAE and cheque. Yet.

Conspiracy

That same bank lost our money in the 'ether' for nine days when we bought our boat, and they were only transferring it from Derbyshire to London. Citibank in London got it, converted it to Deutch Marks and sent it on its way successfully within a few hours. Now what happened to all that interest during the nine days between it being debited from one account and credited to another? Hmmm - I wonder!

Re: Conspiracy

I wondered who got the interest when the Commonwealth Bank of Australia lost my salary for two months somewhere between Sydney and Canberra a few years ago. Now if you think that Lloyds TSB is incompetent.... I had also to give my UK address, so guess where the chequebook was sent!

Similar problems for me, my bank takes five working days to clear a cheque deposit, but If I write one it goes through much quicker. Multiply that by the number of transactions and a nice little slug of interest has accrued for them.

Jonic, with respect ...

I'm a punter just as much as you are. It offends me that each and every post that you post has a URL which I don't need to be aware of. Here is public and not a free advertising place. What you are continuing to do is to break the fragile rules that allow us to be able to post ... If you keep up blasting us with serafina's URL then as likely or not this BB could well be pulled.

If you want to shout, then shout in the classified adverts section of YM - Otherwise, and with respect, stop posting bloody serafina's for sale URL.

Perhaps your problems with your bank are equally self-inflicted.

JOn, we hope to leave sometime in June but we are doing most of the fitout ourselves and will take time, the idea is if it goes wrong, we should know how to fix it but we are getting expert help with the installation of the SSB. We have also got an Iridium phone but didn't bother with the installation, the phone works just fine even inside our house, so we reckon we saved ourselves £1800.00, of course we will be spending that on sails. How long do you plan to be away?
