Disaster!

Quick update, the new extinguisher is fully installed and I've retested the SeaFire system and all is working perfectly (thanks to Hurricane's tip above to test by disconnecting the cable that comes from the extinguisher - there's a connector that pulls apart).

I've got a new (eBay £20 old stock) dashboard head unit that I will put in when I'm next on board (the switch on the old one is a little corroded).

Interestingly, the new cylinder is HFC227 whereas the old one was FM200.

Yes they will you can override it , if that won’t work just disconnect the purple wire to the stop solenoid on each pump or disconnect the stop relay in the black box .
There was another post on here same engines same non start problem turned out to be faulty sea fire system .
Personally I think it’s a crap system in that you can be stranded after it’s gone off . I’ve been to a few boats that won’t start because of the design

I was looking at the exploded view of the black box the other day and it reminded me of your post.

Am I correct in thinking that there are two relays contained within the block box? How would I know (if this happens again) which one is the stop solenoid? What's the other one for?

Thanks for your help, as ever!

we've had twin engined boats as well , but none have had the override panel.

I've had a look on the seafire website, and I think that there are various options for shutting down the engine automatically. I think all their system come with a switch on the extinguisher which can be wired up to shut the engines down either using their own optional engine shutdown kit (in which case you get the panel you showed in your post), or the boat builder could devise their own shutdown mechanism run from the seafire extinguisher, or I guess the engines could not be shut down at all

I have no idea what windy will have done - I suspect they will have taken the 'do nothing at all' route.

Interesting, I cant remember back to every boat, but certainly the twin engined regal, the twin engined sealine, single engine sea ray, twin engine windy ,and single engine windy all just have/had the basic seafire panel without the override switch.

I might take a closer look at the extinguisher next time I'm in the engine bay and see if I can work out whether it will shut the engine down.

I have a sealine S28 with the same seafire panel did you ever work out if this system shuts the engines down ?
