dirt in diesel tank

What a great idea. Andrew

(I have an endoscope with built in LED and camera but you have to drag out the PC etc - 10mm dia. Your torch-on-a-wire would work most times. Fine for diesel but probably not too good for petrol??)

Just as a matter of interest have those of you with dirty tanks been using conditioner (in the tank - not your hair)? Andrew

I don't use a conditioner, but do use a biocide after a recent bug issue... I use Marine16.

PBO did a fairly rigorous test of them all with some support from chemists, and Marine 16 came out very well, whereas the conditioners were much less successful.

I used soltron at every filling,it certainly didn't stop me getting the bug. Interestingly I was speaking to a marine engineer who felt the use of biocides in diesel from the pumps has increased the incidence of fuel bug contamination. I had been using white bio-diesel from a garage and he reckoned this could have been a contributory factor to the a,punt of contamination I had. Can't quite see the logic myself!

the water separation filter is the first one in line with me and i cant get any fuel to it

Connect a foot pump to the line coming from the tank and give it a good blast. You've probably got crud in the line, and a blast of air will blow it back to the tank.
