Just bought a set of those fold up grey plastic dinghy wheels but was wondering if I'm still going to be able to fold the dinghy away OK once they are fitted. Anyone have any experience of this.

I've got a set on the transom of our Plastimo dinghy. They do rather restrict how small a package the dinghy can be rolled into but for us the advantages of the wheel far outweighs this slight drawback. Rolling up from the front end leaving he transom and wheels to last seems fine for our needs.

If they are bolted to the transom using wing bolts and wing nuts they could be quickly removed for storage in the bag.
I wouldn’t like to fit through transom bolts without a healthy dose of Sikaflex, which makes removal and refitting nigh on impossible.

It should be possible to attach the wheels to a piece of ply then attach the ply with just 2 bolts above the waterline. Anyone tried this. Might also try a couple of G clamps outboard style.

Me too I wouldn't be without them, though I roll from the transom so I can use the painter to tie up the bundle. I don't know if mine were a cheaper set than some, but the springs didn't last long. Not a problem once I got used to their absence, though.

If you need to faff around with ingenious plans to make them removable, I reckon you've got the wrong wheels. Use the plastic ones it you can put up with the extra bulk; if you can't, get metal ones that are designed to be removed.

You could always make a trolley that fits neatly over the transom, with 2 wheels underneath. I'm considering doing this for mine
