Dinghy trolleys (long story)

Of course it was Trevor's and ownership confers exclusive rights, but isn't it a bit mean spirited to actually exercise that right. We all waive rights all the time to make the world run more smoothly. We don't have to let people turn right in front of us in traffic, but we do.

It is absurd to extrapolate the arguments along the lines of "if I let people turn in my driveway then I have to let them park there" or "if they use my dinghy trolley then why not my boat". There is no marginal cost to using a dinghy trolley. It has already been bought. It will eventually decay and fall apart not through use, but through exposure to the elements.

I just can't see the "it's mine, and even if there is no cost to me and no inconvenience, no one else is using it" point of view. It's just mean.
Urhh! wot planet you on? Or are you argueing for the sake of argueing? Or, dare I say it? do we dress to the left a bit? hmm?

Zeig heil mein herr! Sharing & helping is not necessarily a socialist trait. I have seen you do it & benefitted from your generosity too. So no need to play the "Ghengis Khan is a softie" line on here. I was taiught to pass favours on many years ago & liked the simplicity of the concept from the start. If it don't hurt you, but it helps someone else, let it go. The world becomes a better place.

So why wasn't the Walker Bay actually ON the trolley when he turned up?
Surely that shows that the dinghy/trolley combo is in use and saves an extra space in the compound???

Understood Stu. Sorry, I couldn't resist a tease. I tend to be a bit of a tightwad with my gear too - especially as borrowers seldom have any consideration for lenders.

I'm hoping to be around in the middle of next week with family, could be Llanddwyn, Aber Menai, Caernarfon, or somewhere around the Straits. Like you, looking to chill & check out my steering cables & rudder as I stripped the gearbox in my autopilot and it may be excessively stiff.
