Is there anywhere in Devon where a chap on holiday with a newly printed RYA level 1 certificate, (i.e. I can tell the sharp end from the blunt end), might hire a dinghy for an hour or two?

I imagined a reservoir or lake where this might be possible but not found anything via google.

Thanks.

There is boat hire on the Dart. Small dory type boats with 10hp OB on. Fine for bimbling up and down the River. Also, some hiring available at Salcombe too for the Estuary there. Don't know any names, but a call to the local Harbour office will probably get you a tel no.

Thanks all for the replies. Dittisham boats is on the 'wrong' coast but this is very attractive, 'One and a half hour lesson for one person- £40.00'

In case this of interest to anyone else, have spoken with a pleasant chap called Matt at Tamar Lakes (of the SW Lakes Trust) and booked a 2 hour lesson for £34.

Great stuff!

also worth considering:

They do hire by the 1/2 day and is in a great spot.
