Alton water is closed at the moment because of blue-green algae and my children are booked into a week-long RYA dinghy course the week of the 20th Aug. They only get to do a week of dinghy sailing once a year and have been looking forward to this week for months. Disappointed will not do justice to their reaction when I have to tell them :-(.
Problem is that the youngest is only 6 and most other training centres start at age 8, so I can't even book them in somewhere else.
I know it is mostly cruising sailors on this forum, but as you all know the East coast, I thought their might be a chance someone knows of a centre that takes kids aged 6. If anyone has any suggestions (anywhere in the country!) please reply.
As an aside, I don't see why the courses all start at age 8. My son started dingy sailing last year aged 5 and my daughter was aged 8. They were perfectly fine in an oppi, and since then have been much more useful and interested in sailing the big boat with us. We even tacked the boat down the Blackwater together last week.
