Having recently purchased a cheap little dinghy for river pottering/fishing I am in need of a bit of advice concerning grp patching. Its only a couple of dings underneath and i only want to fill them in for piece of mind really. Not at all fussed what it will look like as the price of the dinghy and what it will be used for doesn't warrent it.
So can anyone recommend a suitable waterproof filler for grp?

If its only a dinghy that wont be afloat all the time a hard type car body filler will probably be adequate

If its just chips in the gelcoat Plastic Padding Gelcoat filler

Anything more than little dings Something like David Isopon P40 body filler

Any serious damage glass mat and liquid ( polyester) resin from your local car spares shop or Halfrauds.

Epoxy as suggested for a high quality repair.

Thanks for that. Wont be afloat unless being used and resin sounds ideal. didn't know you could just use it without the glass matting. never had any need to know i suppose! :)

You'd not use just the polyester resin. Either use a filler as suggested or resin and glass.

The P40 filler contains strands of glass fibre intended for bridging small holes.

note that the hardener is sometimes sold separately
