Dilemma...Are two Boats better than one?

Suppose the question really is how many Marina's then .. how many Marinas = 1 Ferrarri? Suppose they'll have to be Ital's to make it a reasonable qestion.

Re: cap-fitting excerise

Actually, I was referring to me blamming along in the alderney race, not you hehe.

Anyways yours seemed pretty happy to nip up to 27knots so i will believe the 34. However, i bet if i sawed off the ends of the morse controls on mine, it might go faster. Alternatively, tightening the cable could be an option too.

But of course, this doesn't allow for the incredible go-faster anodes, which will leave you suitably gutted when it gives me an extra 2 knots making 34+ knots, or moose and moose#1 with a lot of blimmin explaining to do.

Yep, ferrariwise, he is stuck. And just how much blimmin sunseeker logo cutlery does he need?

I am sort of intrigued at the idea of 4 fulltime boat cleaning bods on the manhattan too.

Re: cap-fitting excerise

I didn't say get go faster anodes, I said get go faster cone things to go over the anodes but then I suppose the anodes won't work, erm?
Maybe you need to move the anodes or something to enable fitting of super go faster prop cones. Or of course you could just get rid of all the antifoul and all the copper glue stuff that should lose you a good 1/2 ton/forums/images/icons/smile.gif
Blame No1 if it doesn't work.

Re: cap-fitting excerise

huh, you can't get out of it that easily - it was your idea AND you deffo promised 2 knots.

Or I supose we could just agree a 2knot increase on my speed against jfm's actual on account of the fact that i could puttem on, but haven't, and that an aeroplaney expert such as yourself (and moose#1, the ringleader) will vouch for the agreed 2 extra knots.

Re: cap-fitting excerise

You dont get away with it that easily. These go faster anodes are just cones to stick over the prop nut to make it all nicely faired in and streamlined and less vortexy or whatever, hence 2 extra knots, right? In which case I'll have some anode cones too please, so an extra 2 knots for me too. I might also add some soltron. And I will keep the fuel tanks lightly loaded for maximum speed :-)

Re: cap-fitting excerise

HUh you both don't get out of it that easily the cones are only required if you've got your sails up as well. And its the sails that add the xtra speed no ra cones!

Re: cap-fitting excerise

I can possibly supply you with two RB211 D4 engines which should just about do the job (53,000lbs a piece). You can be the engineer and figure out how to fit them to you aft sunbathing area/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: cap-fitting excerise

Just digressing a bit Moose, whay are aero engines rated in thrust (lbs) rahter than good ole horsepower? The funadamental physical property that matters is power, not force, innit? I mean, a 5hp engine can produce 53000lbs of thrust if suitably geared, but will not make a 747 fly even if there were 4 of them. So what's this thrust lbs all about? Is it that aeronautical engineers dont know what's what?

am defo inclined with the 70 predator
and unfortunately looking at other brands is not an option
just saw a pic of the 27m leopard in one of those silly magazines that tell the wife where to spend yr hard earned money
abt the speed issue ...i love the principaled way ss test the boat
full fuel and water all tenders on board and as many people as rated

w/r the 4 bods for cleaning ...the dust around here is quite a problem even though she is moored in a very quite bay

its down to the fact our roads are not completely paved on the sides
i like to keep her spotless at any time regardless we being on or off it
and i am creating employment

w/r to the ss logo ed cutlery ...its really not that bad as only the glasses are marked ...the crockery and cutlery are relative untouched

jfm
am already having a chat with the factory abt the predator

apparently the 1st boat is still not firm ...but am not too happy having the 1st one
i saw the problems with the 82 at soton

should be at the lbs defo this time ...couldnt make it the to the last one due to work
as i had mentioned we have a confirmed 66 hattan for a client in india and are talking to another abt 140 ...still dont know if they are serious or not

marinas are still a phenomenon unheard of in this region
all our political ars@h@les are talking abt setting them up but still want to have tarrifbarriers for importing boats
and some think a marina is a place where you have sailing races and watersports

Lady anna is on a safe and secure mooring in a quite and sheltered bay
as of now i have a little service pontoon which i tie on to
there is a water tank ,pump and power generator and security guard cabin on it on it ...in effect all marina facilities with only access being a bit difficult ...that where the 4 staff come in ...someone is on the pontoon 24hrs just incase you feel the need to have that last drink on board
nevertheless we have a proposal pending with the govt on setting up of a small marina which will also accomodate visting superyachts

best to all as always

Eek Bigmoose you do need to be careful buying boat #1. Probly ok with a sseeker and if there's some discount, but there will be a lot of fixing/designing as they build the boat and they might even be in experimenting mode as regards layup weights, trimming effect of water tank positions and suchlike, exhaust design, etc etc

It varies case to case. On the new Sealine T60 according to BoatInt, the first 3 boats have a different layup method to the rest, I forget the detail, but has a significant effect. Hence, better not buy a T60 till they're on number 6 imho (though personally I wouldn't buy even number 600 of that particular machine, but that's another matter)

Do you know if there were significant issues/bodges/screw-ups on number 1 of the recent launches, say the 82/94 Yachts?

BIG MOOSE

It is the same sunseeker yes, I spoke to the mexican engineer who needed to be a small guy with those three V16 MTU's down there. It was called something like 'ME' or 'M3' ???

It is smaller than 'MY' Boat but it looks so much more dramatic on the water.
I do have lots of pictures but they are of the refit so she doesn't look her best. As soon as she is done I'll put her online.

By the way she'll be available for charter in both the Med and Carib.
