Digital Magazines - What we are in and how to buy

I don't want to buy a digital copy, I already buy a hard copy by subscription. I just want the same service my brother gets with his iPad. He buys his hard copy by subscription and can therefore get it on his iPad for free. I would like it on my android tablet for free as I already buy it.

Ok now its clear apologies I did not get that first time round.

Its something we would like to offer and are working with the service providers to see if we can make it happen, it is not something that is in our control.

It is not as easy or as simple as you make think which is of course no help to you but I am afraid thats just the way it is.

Like I always say things change in the digital landscape almost daily.

Nobody is discriminating any platform user we just have to work with what is available to us.

Cheers

I am very grateful for YM/PBO being available on my iPhone/iPad - although I have had some niggles with Zinio as a service provider, the app is good enough and any problems I have had have been addressed quickly by Zinio and the magazines themselves.

People forget that they have the choice to take it or leave it.

I confess to being disappointed by the e-offerings of YBW.

Having once been a subscriber to PBO I gave up when the diet of recycled articles and the proportion of advertising to journalistic writing became badly disproportionate in favour of the former.

Now, spending 6-months on the boat I need paper mags like an hole in the head - no newspapers and the Economist purely on internet.

Until the other day when I saw YBW had done a survey on winches - I'd like a copy. Well going out to the nearest newsagent (who doesn't stock it) really isn't sensible, but a e-copy would do just fine.
The only option is a year's inflated subscription.

I have to deplore YBW commonsense - individual downloadable copies are eminently suitable for internet - that they haven't set it up for themselves says a lot for their lack of entrepreneurial zeal.

I'll do the winch research for myself...

That's not true I am afraid. You can buy single issues on line or buy the article itself through ybw. Why not ask before suggesting you can't get it therefore its carp ...

Applogies for spelling and length of reply as I am on my iPhone in a hotel on dodgy connection

I subscribe to YM via Zinio and have just found that there is a YM Newstand app - how can I shift my subscription over? Zinio is useless as a viewer when compared PBO via Newsstand. I have tried logging into the app with my Zinio account details but they were not recognised.

Thanks

Hi I am afraid you have to cancel your Zinio subscription and either authenticate your print subscription to access and ipad edition or purchase and ipad edition through the app store.

I am afraid you cannot move one ot the other.

Hope this helps.

Apologies I must have missed info' .... possibly many times.

I am a subsciber to both YM and PBO paper magazines and now have an ipad. How do I get started on the free digital magazines please?

thanks
S.

Go to the app store and download the app for YM and PBO, this will open up in your newstand then follow the instructions via the I am a print subscriber button. Enter your details and job done...

Let me know if you have any probs.

Cheers

Hi

I originally subscribed through the Kindle Fire and the 'contract' appears to be with Pixel Mags. I've just binned the Kindle (for various reasons) and gone to an ipad. I cant seem to rejuvenate my subscription at all. Pixel are trying to help, they've reset my password but to no avail. Not sure they understand the problem. I get one vague reply a day from them so its dragging on. The problem seems to me to be that the provider on ipad is IPC not Pixel, so it doesn't know who I am. Cant see YM in the list of Pixel mags in the app store so now at a loss. Can you advise? Pixel tell me that I should be able to view on 15 devices but cant find any way in on ipad.

Further to above, Pixel now tell me that YM isn't available on Ipad through them and therefore I have to persuade Amazon to refund it and start it again. Seems to me too many fingers in the pie here, may explain the high cost complained about further back in the thread. Frustrating to say the least.

Thanks

Bob

I have a Kindle Fire and have taken out the subscription for YM as PBO does not seem to be available from Amazon. However the App is not fit for purpose. I should have taken heed of the dreadful reviews on the mazon App store before subscribing.
It worked at first and I was able to just about read the summer edition of YM. As a reading app it is nowhere near as good as the native Kindle book reader. Even worse now it does not load at all. So I have 2 questions, only one of which I expect to be answered.
1. How can you release an app to the store without testing it properly?
2. Who can I contact to cancel my subscription? Since the software does not work I cannot make use of it.

So can I pass my digital mag on to a mate when I get bored with it or is there digital rights management on it?

Run it by me how to leave / collect it to/from the marina's unofficial book exchange please.

As a further note to the above, Amazon were very helpful actually rang me up to arrange a refund of the subscription to the Kindle fire. While they were at they did the same for newspaper subscription which considering they were loosing business was very impressive. In conversation with the Amazon guy, we discussed why I was ditching Kindle and he was actually considering an iPad himself even though his kindle comes with job!
For the poster above with app difficulties on kindle, I had the same issues although that's not my prime reason for going iPad. I can assure you it works well on iPad as does my daily paper. Much more costly gadget but I'm converted.

Anyone else having problems downloading the June digital issue? I have a sub through the ZINIO app and it's coming up blank on both iPad and mac!!
