With many new exciting tablet devices being launched in the run up to Christmas here is a mini guide as to what you can get your favourite boating magazine delivered on.

Print – you can still of course simply subscribe to your favorite magazine here

iPad – simply click here if you wish to subscribe to the iPad edition only.

Other Tablets

We are also now available on the following tablets; simply visit your app store from your tablet to purchase your favourite boating magazine.

• Kindle Fire HD

• Nook

• Google Play (Available end Dec 12)

Don’t panic if you don’t have a tablet (yet !) but still want to receive your magazine in a digital format then simply subscribe via Zinio.

Thanks for the summary Richard - Any difference in cost between Zinio and Google play?

Old stuff all in Zinio, but would be pleased to "loose the App"

When launched (Mid Dec) it should be the same price, remember that Zinio shows ex VAT till check out. Also you wont be able to take all your back issues that you have accumulated.

Wow a whole £1 saving for no print or postage charges for delivery to iPad, an offer I can resist thanks.

Indeed what about the Apple, cut, the VAT, the software licence....

As I said in my other thread I am not getting into the print / paper savings etc as there are just as many costs associated with digital as there are print.

This thread is about how you can access the digital versions should you want to.

Thank you

Ah sorry, would have weighed in on the other thread had I seen it.

But just one thing.

Daily Telegraph print subs plus digital, £240, IPad only £110.

Must be a different business model:)

Oh and another, East Coast Sailing...free on digital, and a jolly good read to boot.

Very difficult to believe, I would like to see the figures. My digital copy arrives about 1 week later than the paper copy in the newsagents.
There is something badly wrong with the system.

What platform are you on ? Can you PM me ?

As an aside clearly I am not going to go into costs but all providers take a hefty chunk and we have to include VAT.

Let me have your details and I will try and help.

Cheers

First time I purchased from Zinio they charged VAT ( I'm outside EU) I thought that it might be a mistake as I may have entered site through a EU link.)

Not used to paying tax on internet purchases in Canada US ( at least not local taxes from vendor in another state or province although 5% federal tax payable across Canada)

Next time they also charged for an outside EU sale.

Zinio should charge you your local rate if applicable that's why all the prices are shown ex tax until you get to check out.

At the end of every month I end up cutting the odd page out that I want to keep. Although I do not have a tablet yet, having access to electronic versions (naturally free with subscription) would save a considerable amount of physical storage.

I have a stack of printed copies, which i cull every now and again, and cut out all the cruising articles, skippers tips and new gear tests and reviews. Do you think there is enough like minded souls out there to warrant having as much of the back catalogue digitised, and available on a tablet?

It already is digitised, and available on any device that can read PDF, but sadly they insist on charging such a silly price that it's not really viable unless you're wanting to read the review of a boat you're in the process of buying. They don't seem to realise that at a lower price people would read other kinds of articles, and reviews of boats they're not buying, and quite probably make more sales overall.

All discussed on this thread here.

Two entirely different things I am afraid.

We are however looking at something that will give you access to a number of back issues for a certain price. details will follow.

As I have said many times the digital landscape changes almost daily and we do as much as we are able to, being a large publishing house to deliver new innovation as soon as we can.

Lets not go over what content is worth again, I have explained it many times.

Thank you

I don't think mentioning this should queer Richards pitch because I presume IPC will still receive their same cut from Zinio, but Groupon are doing a voucher worth £34 toward any of their electronically produced magazine titles For £14.99. As a 13 issue Zinio subscription to YM or PBO averages £38 or so, it means I can take a 13 issue subscription for a total of £14.99 plus the subscription/voucher difference of £4 a total of £18.99 for 13 electronic issues. I've just bought 2 vouchers to subscribe to YM and PBO.

Groupon voucher offer closes in 2 days.

It'll make the difference between putting cheap plonk or drinkable wine on the Christmas table this year.

At the moment the only complimentary version will be the paper / iPad version.

However the digital landscape is constantly changing so it will be a question of watch this space.

I have to say I am disappointed about this as one of the great reasons for getting a tablet was to be able to take my YM to work.

Why are Android users to be discriminated against?

And why are you still not in the play store?

Erm they are? its device specific so simply look in your app store form your device, you wont find it under a web browser.

Hardly discrimination, we are on every device out there now!!!
