Digital Amp Stereo wiring

I am in the process of swapping out my car stereo with a digital lepai amp. The amp is 12v but comes with a standard UK plug. I cut the plug identified the positive wire by dashes shown on the wire. I then connected to the positive to the positive fuse and the negative to the bar and blew the amp. Any advice on how to wire these. Thanks tim

Yes - don't go by the dash on the wire!! I've googled the amp, and the legend on the back shows the 12v plug is centre positive. Cut the wires and use a meter to check which wire goes to the centre pin - wire this as the +12v.

will it be happy with the non-stabilized 12V (i.e. going up to 13.6 or so...) of the charging system on a car or boat, anyone checked that?
