Hallo Folks,

Can anybody tell me what are the major differences between these two models e.g. in terms of sailing performance, cockpit space, accommodation, storage space etc?

I have been onboard a Scanmar 35 recently with a view to buying it.
However it would require some work as it has been lying neglected for the last 2 - 3 years.
Scanmar 33's have also caught my eye, unfortunately there is none close to me to have a look at.

From looking on the web the biggest difference would seem to be in the aft cabin - the 35 has a walk through to two bunks with decent headroom, afforded by the raised coachroof and the cockpit being in the centre of the boat.
The 33 on the other hand has a small ish keyhole entrance and the bunk under the cockpit - similiar in size perhaps to the cabin on a Moody 31?

Is this where the two feet of difference is felt, with the saloon, galley etc being pretty similiar between both models?

Thanks in advance

I own a Scanmar 33. As far as I know the two models are basically similar in design, dimensions and layout except for the lengthened aft-cabin. I doubt that there could be full standing headroom in the Sc35 aft cabin at the entry point from the main saloon. I have owned my boat for 8 years and am very happy with her.
You will find basic dimensions of both models on this site: http://www.scanmarklubben.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=18&Itemid=36
Here is a website on Sc35 by a Swedish owner who brought one back from USA: http://www.eddievan.com/themission.htm
He also did some significant projects and upgrades: http://www.eddievan.com/isabelle/isabelle.htm
I am happy to try to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks for that Slowtack

I should have been clearer regarding the headroom - what I meant to say was that there is decent headroom in the aft cabin, rather than in the walk through as such.
Good to hear you have been very happy with your boat, they do seem well liked by anyone familiar with them.
To my eye the Sc33 might be the prettier of the two, but I may be influenced by the neglected state of the Sc35 I am looking at.

Thanks for those websites, I'll check them out.

One design issue so far is the cockpit locker on the Sc35 is tiny, although there is space below it, aft of the engine, which it perhaps could be expanded into.
