Ordered the wrong sikaflex online. Threw the packaging away and so can't send it back.

Is there much difference between the caravan version and the marine one? Or can I go ahead and use it?

It is to seal hardware to the deck btw

Cheers

Depends what use you are proposing, Sikaflex usually has some kind of designation number and you can use that to check on their site as to its performance qualities.

Its 512. Will look it up, but all help gratefully received

They are very similar. Data sheet for 512 here and for 291 here. There are slight differences but it seems to me nothing that would be a major deterrent. I have used the caravan product on the boat without problems. However I now use PU40 from Toolstation for all sealing jobs, I cannot detect a difference between it and 291, used in UK and in Greece.

Should have mentioned before, the PU40 costs a lot less than half the price of Sikaflex.

I imagine the difference is that marine grade carries a price penalty but little else. after all, unless its below the waterline, caravans are just as prone to damage if water gets in - probably even worse as at least boats are laid up more strongly and don't have the flimsy formica/laminate walls inside that really do rot if they are wet.

Thanks for the tip Vyv. Really appreciate that. :)
