Dietz Oil Lamp Spares

I had a similar problem. Ended up cannibalising a brand new, very cheap, hurricane lantern from Homebase.

The trouble was that the brass toothed wheel wouldn't penetrate and so grip the wick fabric, and when forced, the spindle it was on detached itself.

I replaced these two brass bits with the tougher metal bits from the Homebase lantern. It involved some minor metal bending and it has worked for a while ...

If it's not too old, why not try exchanging it under warranty for one that works? I didn't because I'd already spent some time soldering up all the leaky joints and didn't want to start from scratch again.

Does any one know of a brass hurricane lantern that works or alternatively a non-brass one that won't rust?
