I have posted this problem in the past but I have still not been able to cure it, perhaps someone will have a new suggestion.

My md21b is getting air into its guts from somewhere after it is stopped over night.

It did not have this problem when I bought it but it did develope the diesil bug and the pump had to be removed and serviced.

I have removed and refitted the injector pump the lift pump and all the other bits and pieces that go along with them but I cannot find the cause of the problem. there is no apparent diesil leak, yet whenever I leave the boat overnight it has to be bled to start the engine the next day.

Any suggestions would be welcome. I intend to change the filters and as many of the fuel lines as I can tomorrow, but the most fruastrating part is that I will not know if this has cured the problem untiL the next day.

Thanks in advance.

Tony

You didnt by chance use PTFE tape on any of the joints? as that will allow air in after a while.

I had a persitent leak which I eventually traced to the connection on the tank.

Had exact same problem on previous boat after the marina mechanics had replaced all previously rubber fuel hose with copper piping and fitted a new primary fuel filter/separator. Traced it to a bad connection on the primary fuel filter. Air could get in but hole too small for diesel to get out. I found the problem by starting from basics and isolating things in turn. I temporarily bridged the primary separator with a piece of rubber fuel pipe, bled the engine and after that it ran with no problem.

Got all the joints redone and problem solved. It helped that the final flexible piping between the fixed copper pipe & the engine was clear plastic so I could actually see air bubbles in the fuel line so I knew the problem was in the fuel feed and not in the engine.

Hope this helps
