anybody have any waxing problems with their boat in the last few days?

I had a problem which could have been waxing on the 27th, but if no one else has had a problem, it might be something else.

if you bought diesel inthe summer, it would be unlikely to have the winter additives to -15C.

In case of emergency add paraffin (1:10). It prevents waxing, and has sufficient lube qualities.

Your fuel filters will only unwax at about +15C, so best to have a spare or two.

You can buy ketones as winter diesel additive, but about £20 for 5 litres. It goes a long way though. We use it in tractors.

Do they ever put the additives in red diesel? I thought not.

But my puzzle is whether my engine problems were waxing or not. Engine started OK and idled in the berth for a while whilst we got the boat ready to race, but driving out to the start line it made several attempts to stall as if fuel feed was partially blocked or had a wodge of wax coming through.

May of couse have been something else but the engine hitherto has been 100%

I think that red must have anti-waxing put in it in winter, bcs I managed to freeze the johnDeere last winter using the end of a tank of summer bought red. Luckily I keep one spare filter (they're glass) and managed to clear the waxed one by leaving on a radiator overnight. Not popular with memsa'b

When I lived up on the moors, it used to be a regular sight seeing trucks on early winter mornings with small fires under the diesel tanks. I had a diesel car then and used to dose the diesel with paraffin from I'd better not say where so that it diodnt wax up.
