Hi,

I remeber seeing a very good deisel syphon that was simply a bit of hose with a ballbearing in it and putting that end into the deisel container and the other into the tank and pumping the ballbearing side up adn down it induced the flow of diesel. I know it's at the boatshow as is some of my friends and I would like to know the name of the product or location of the stand selling it. Any help appreciated.

There is also a new led torch that works by shaking it (no batteries) any info here also appreciated.

Many thanks

magic

bought one at sbs. the best ten quid i've spent in a long time. afraid i chucked out the packaging so can't give details. will post again if i spot it at libs.

Try long pipe from bottom of container to tank + short pipe to top of container.

Hold hands round top of container to make a sort of seal.

Blow sharply down short pipe

and syphon away

Put tenner in pocket.

LED torch...

The LED torch is called "Nightstar" and was reviewed in the latest YM, who said it was made by Weems & Plath. I don't think it is actually made by them, although they are one of hundreds of people selling it. YM also said that shaking the thing for 30 secs will charge it up for 10 to 15 minutes. If you look at the graph on this website, you'll see that the light intensity falls off dramatically in next to no time. After 2 mins, it's less than half the brightness; after 4 mins it's only a quarter as bright. If there's any light left after 10 mins, I bet it would be of little use!

The torch is also very heavy - about 1lb. And it's expensive - about £40. A battery-powered torch (possibly LED) makes much more sense.

This is the way I go about it as well, using two tubes,
works every time no fail. Just got to mark the end of the tube
you blow in, saves the bad taste on the lips,
Im talking about bits of pipe and nothing else!!!!!!

You dont need all that. Just suck on the other end of pipe. Remember to stop sucking at the apropriate time

It's called, somewhat unexcitingly, the Super Pump. I bought one too at SIBS for a tenner, though not used it yet, so can't say how it works in practice. Sold by a German chap and one of those very convincing demo's. He said it's not available in the shops\chandlers in the UK but then he would say that wouldn't he. There's an address and fax number on the packaging, Stefan-George Ring 29\3, D-81929 Munchen, fax no 0049 89 930 5184. Don't know if he's at LIBS though.

Well I suppose a bloke has to do what a bloke has to do , but I'd rather get a woman on the end !!.
They have plenty of suction :-] mind their timing can seem to get em a gob full now and then .....
